Renters Remain Left Out in the Cold

The coronavirus worsens an already severe housing affordability crisis. The most recent data shows that 10.7 million households, one-quarter of all renters, spend more than half of their income on rent, including 56% of all renters earning less than US$30,000 per year. More than 2.3 million renters are evicted annuallyThe economic shutdown necessitated by COVID-19 has undermined the ability of millions of families and individuals to pay their landlords.
